We like to party...

Well she's done it again! Beyonce refuses to miss a trend, the sound du jour right now is that nostalgic 80's soul and she's nailed it with this track. Love the story and styling of this video, the outfits seem to get better as the video progresses and it has made me wonder if I will ever grow out of loving crazy coloured fur, or regarding knickers as acceptable lower half attire on their own, I doubt it and if I'm honest that's the kind of growing up I'd rather pass on. The one thing I think may be missing from this video is the fabulous Andre 3000, he's a bit like this generation's Prince so a shame not to see him but the cameos from Solange Knowles (hot girl dj) and the girl-of-the-moment Kelly Rowland at the end do make up for it.

Uberluvly...

I spent this saturday with the wonderful Sarah-Leigh of Sarah-Leigh's style files and one of our activities of the day was a very cultured little jaunt out to an art show at Southampton's newly refurbished Grand Cafe. The show featured 120 pieces by the very hard working Lee Murray of Uber studios, and it was an exhibit that started to feel a bit like a shopping trip, for example... 'ooh i want that one in my living room' or 'wouldn't whas-is-name like that one for christmas' and so it went on. There were plenty of girly vintage inspired pieces, iconic musicians for the boys and the slightly evil Banksy-esque Mickey Mouses (or is that Mickey Mice?) that really caught my eye, my favourite however had to be the lip one that reminds me of an eighties album cover (below)...

What I wore today....

Rudy's blog debut...

Luke Bingham: Nothing to lose ....

Very early this summer (around about the freak heatwave in May) I was called upon to dress a beautiful model in a beautiful video. The beautiful model just happened to look exactly like Mischa Barton as you'll see, and she boosted her sexiness by chattering away on her phone in various languages, nothing hotter than switching beween languages with lovely lilting accents whilst having looks like that.
It was a long bloomin' day, as music videos tend to be, fun though. There are a few nailbiting moments in a day in the life of a stylist however, example: Luke's stylist frantic with worry and weilding a lint roller when Luke entered the wardrobe nightmare that is a rapeseed field when dressed head to toe in black. The only side effect to this being a minor O.C.D attachment to the lint roller. Meanwhile I was fighting my own personal war with boob tape. It's a tough job but we persevere.
Keep an eye out for Mr Bingham in the future, he was doing a lot with Radio 1 over the summer and a stint touring with Trey Songz, definately one to watch.

Recent Styling Project....

I recently styled some new artists for 360 records, one of whom was the east London based grime artist Marger. Here's a few behind the scenes sneaky shots, will post the shiny official edited ones soon...

Loved this hat, the crazy cartoons under the brim are a nice touch.

Charley Macaulay...

I have been doing a lot of work recently styling the up and coming singer Charley Macaulay, here are some behind the scenes shots from a photoshoot we did recently for the cover of her upcoming EP. This girl is immensely talented so if you get a chance to see her live then take it, she's goosebump-causingly good.
Really enjoying working with Charley, in shoots and on stage she doesn't want to dress in things that anyone else might have so we're having a lot of fun with vintage and other unusual bits we can acquire at the moment, and thinking up unusual ways to wear them (you may notice that exquisite evening wear teamed with battered converse became a bit of a theme this particular day).
I will post more looks from the shoot soon.

A rail of vintage beauty, such a lovely sight.

Wretch 32 music video shoot (part 2)

Glad I stumbled accross these today! Here are more of the behind the scenes shots of the styling on the Wretch 32 music video for 'Traktor' that never quite made it onto the blog, but I think they definitely deserve a veiwing...

This was such an amazing transformation, can you believe this dancer has a huge afro under that wig?!
The make up artist scored top points on both of the girls that day.

So in love with this...

Starring the beautiful Freha Beha Erichsen, shot by Karl Lagerfeld and styled by Carine Roitfeld, what on earth is not to love here? Never one to just throw on a balaclava, it is now my most wanted item, but only if it comes with ears attached. I am glad to report that in perusing the upcoming trends for this quickly approaching winter and checking out which of these trends have been adopted by the high street giants, I am thrilled to see that there are indeed a few garments with ears attached available out there. I think it will be a 'mini-trend' at best, one probably mostly kept in the confines of photoshoots, but by jove I will be chmpioning ears this winter.
